brantly A very solid effort from thehappymask. The, 'Ruines,' has a familiar blackened post-shoegaze sound, that certainly shares some similarities with other 'blackgaze,' bands like Alcest, Clouds Collide and Caina, but, since the LP is sans vocals, the record also reminds me of ethereal post-rockers, Hammock, the dream-sludge of mid-period Jesu, and, at times, even Eno? A beautifully blackened version of side 2 of Bowie's eerie 1977 'Low' LP? An LP that unfolds like one argent ode to resigned sadness Favorite track: Dead flowers.
